Gregor Tait

Discipline: Swimming (Backstroke)

Gregor was born in Glasgow and is currently the reigning Commonwealth Games champion for the 200m Backstroke and the 200m Individual Medley. Gregor competed in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, winning two Gold (200m Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley)  and two Bronze medals (100m Backstroke and 4x100m Medley) and on his return was hailed as a ‘national hero’ by Scotland’s first minister Jack McConnell.

At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Gregor won Silver medal in the 200m Backstroke. At the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, he finished 12th in the 100m backstroke and seventh in the 200m backstroke and eighth is the 4x100 medley relay. In 2008, Gregor took part in his second Olympic Games held in Beijing. Unfortunately he returned home without any medals; coming 12th in the 100m Backstroke and 8th in the 200m Backstroke.
